Sums of Even Powers in Archimedean Rings

چکیده
This note is devoted to the study of totally archimedean rings of regular functions. We easily extend Schm udgen theorem to this class of rings. Moreover, we show that, in such rings, every totally positive element is a sum of even powers of totally positive elements, and hence is a sum of even powers of units.

متن کاملThe Real Holomorphy Ring and Sums of Powers in Rational and Elliptic Function Fields over The Field of Real Numbers
This thesis is devoted to a study of real holomorphy rings in R(x) and elliptic function fields R(x)( √ f(x)), f is a monic polynomial of degree 3 with no multiple roots in C over R and sums of powers in R(x). The objects of study are real valuation rings, real holomorphy rings and real places in the rational function fields R(x) and then investigate their extension to elliptic function fields ...
متن کاملMONOMIALS AS SUMS OF k-POWERS OF FORMS
Motivated by recent results on the Waring problem for polynomial rings [FOS12] and representation of monomial as sum of powers of linear forms [CCG12], we consider the problem of presenting monomials of degree kd as sums of kth-powers of forms of degree d. We produce a general bound on the number of summands for any number of variables which we refine in the two variables case. We completely so...
متن کاملArchimedean copulas with applications to VaR estimation
Assuming absolute continuity of marginals, we give the distribution for sums of dependent random variables from some class of Archimedean copulas and the marginal distribution functions of all order statistics. We use conditional independence structure of random variables from this class of Archimedean copulas and Laplace transform. Additionally, we present an application of our results to VaR e...
متن کاملAsymptotic Value - at - Risk Estimates for Sums of Dependent Random Variables
We estimate Value-at-Risk for sums of dependent random variables. We model multivariate dependent random variables using archimedean copulas. This structure allows one to calculate the asymptotic behaviour of extremal events. An important application of such results are Value-at-Risk estimates for sums of dependent random variables.
